How do you know the fabric it is suitable to active?

When choosing yoga and fitness fabrics, you need to consider comfort, breathability, elasticity and durability, while considering the intensity of exercise and the environment (such as indoor yoga or outdoor practice). The following are key factors and recommended fabric types:

  1. Core needs
Breathable and perspiration-wicking: Yoga may cause sweating, and the fabric needs to evaporate moisture quickly to keep dry.

Elasticity and freedom: High extensibility adapts to large movements (such as stretching and twisting).

Skin-friendly and comfortable: Avoid friction, and natural materials can be selected for sensitive skin.

Environmental protection and sustainability: Environmentally friendly fabrics such as organic cotton and recycled polyester are recommended.

  1. Common fabric comparison
    Fabrics Advantages & Disadvantages:
Cotton: Advantages: Naturally breathable, skin-friendly Disadvantage: Becomes heavier after absorbing sweat, dries slowly Low-intensity yoga, daily practice
Bamboo fiber: advantages: Antibacterial, breathable, soft Poor elasticity, disadvantage: higher price Sensitive skin or hot environment
Modal: advantages: Silky soft, good moisture absorption Easy to deform, disadvantages: weak support Light yoga focusing on comfort
Polyester: advantages: Quick drying, durable, lightweight, disadvantages: May be stuffy during yoga, high-intensity training
Nylon: advantages: wear resistance Slightly disadvantages: poor breathability
Spandex (Lycra®) Ultra-high elasticity (usually blended 5%-20%) Easy to wear when used alone All types of yoga
Recycled environmentally friendly fabrics such as ECONYL® (recycled nylon), organic cotton Higher cost A sustainable choice
  2. Fabric process selection
Mesh design: Enhances breathability, suitable for sweat-prone areas such as underarms and back.

Seamless cutting: Reduces friction and improves fit.

Antibacterial treatment: prevents odor and is suitable for long-term use.

  1. Recommendations by yoga type
Bikram: quick-drying polyester + spandex blend (such as 80% polyester + 20% spandex).

Yin yoga/restorative yoga: bamboo fiber or organic cotton, focus on softness.

Flow yoga/Ashtanga: high-elastic blend (such as nylon + spandex) with strong support.

Outdoor yoga: UV-resistant fabric (such as polyester with UPF50+).

  1. Tips for avoiding pitfalls
✘ Avoid pure cotton (sticky after absorbing sweat) or 100% synthetic fibers (stuffy).

✘ Cheap polyester may irritate the skin, choose large-scale factory technology (such as Coolmax® technology).

✔ Do the “downward dog” test when trying on to check whether it is see-through, curled or bound.
